March 30, 2007 Number of Prisoner Reaches New Peak

The number of prisoners held in England and Wales has just reached a new peak today. There are now 80,303 prisoners in jails in England and Wales. according to new figures released by the prison service. As the Prison Reform Trust points out, this peak has been reached ust two months after Home Secretary John Reid reguested judges to send only the most serious offenders to jail.
