May 14, 2005: Prison Population Hits Another Record High

The prison population has hit yet another record high, a fortnight after the previous record. Figures released yesterday by HM Prison Service indicate that we are now imprisoning 75,8154 inmates. This figure comprises 71,319 male prisoners and 4,496 female prisoners.
