Working With Domestic Violence: UK

Black Women's Rape Action Project offers counselling, support and advice to Black women and other women of colour, immigrant and refugee women, who have suffered rape, sexual assault or other violence. This is the joint website of Women Against Rape and Black Women's Rape Action Project.

The Campaign Against Domestic Violence aims to increase awareness of domestic violence, to improve services for women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence, and to campaign for legal change.

The Crown Prosecution Service Domestic Violence pages provide information on how the CPS deal with cases involving domestic violence.

The Domestic Violence section on the UK government's Crime Reduction website offers some useful resources.

The Home Office Domestic Violence section provides some useful guidance on official policy responses to domestic violence.

Justice For Women is a feminist organisation that campaigns and supports women who have fought back against or killed violent male partners. It campaigns for changes in the defences to murder so that they reflect women's experiences of domestic violence.

Middlesbrough Domestic Violence Forum acknowledges that domestic violence cannot be prevented by any single agency and requires the coordinated efforts of both protection and support agencies. Its website site is a source of information for all interested parties.

Newham Asian Women's Project provides advice and support for Asian women and children experiencing domestic violence. They operate from seven sites, a refuge, a second stage hostel and a resource centre.

The Violence Against Women Research Group (VAWRG) at the University of Bristol is a key UK site for the study of gender based violence. The group researches violence against women and feeds this into policy and practice nationally, internationally and at a local level.

Women's Aid is the national domestic violence charity that helps an average of over 220,000 women and children every year. They work to end violence against women and children, and support over 500 domestic and sexual violence services across the UK.

Working With Domestic Violence: International

CROME (Critical Research On Men In Europe) is an umbrella research network of women and men researchers who are researching on men and masculinities in an explicitly gendered way.

The Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA) supports research, education, and access to violence related resources. They are a superb online resource. MINCAVA are leaders in innovative violence-related education, research and Internet publishing and coordinate internationally renowned projects.

The Violence Against Women Online Resources site provides a wealth of information on interventions to stop violence against women. The site is a cooperative project of the Office on Violence Against Women and Minnesota Center Against Violence & Abuse.
